Here, Ancestral Puebloans, Spanish and American travelers carved over 2,000 signatures, dates, messages, and petroglyphs.
• Mt Taylor – This massive, extinct volcano is about 50 miles west of Albuquerque, and is the highest point in the Cibola National Forest. Here, you can hike the Gooseberry Springs Trail, a simple, pleasant three or four mile hike to the summit with only about 2,000 feet of elevation gain.
• Bluewater Lake State Park – This serene lake is located 25 miles west of Grants, and its pinon-juniper landscape offers fantastic views towards the Zuni Mountains.
